Stepping into Parkview Square—often referred to as Singapore’s “Gotham Building”—is an exercise in architectural awe. While many of the city’s top bars hide in the intimate corners of colonial shophouses, Atlas occupies a space that feels more like a 1920s museum or a grand European train station than a cocktail bar. It is, by almost any metric, one of the most visually stunning drinking destinations in the world.
The Mechanical Grandeur

The scale is immense: gold-gilded ceilings, intricate tapestries, and a towering “Gin Tower” that anchors the room with thousands of bottles. It is unapologetically posh, yet surprisingly accessible, maintaining price points that remain competitive with the smaller, more modest venues in Singapore’s bustling cocktail scene.
Because of its fame, Atlas operates with the efficiency of a well-oiled machine. This isn’t the place for a quiet, philosophical chat with a bartender across a mahogany counter. Instead, the service is structured and restaurant-like. Roles are clearly defined: the bartenders are chemists focused on production, while the floor staff manage the flow of tourists and enthusiasts with a mechanical precision.
Precision in the Glass
With such a massive collection of spirits—particularly gin—at their disposal, the technical bar at Atlas is expected to perform at a high level. For the most part, they deliver.
The Amber Club is a masterclass in spirit-forward complexity. Visually, its orange hue suggests a typical sweet-and-sour build, but the palate tells a different story. It is a floral, liquor-based cocktail that feels like “drinking a rose garden.” By utilizing rose aperitif and a herbal floral sparkle sugar garnish, they achieve a delicate sweetness without relying on juice or citrus. It is sophisticated, dry, and complex.

For those who prefer the fundamentals, the Atlas Old Fashioned demonstrates their foundational skill. It is remarkably smooth—a “well-integrated” drink where the spirits have been married together rather than just poured. It lacks the sharp, disjointed edges found in lesser Old Fashioneds, proving that despite the high volume, the bar team hasn’t lost their touch for balance.

The Spritz and the Scale
Atlas also features a “Cocktail of the Month.” During my visit, this was a Champagne and Gin Spritz. While refreshing and incredibly easy to drink—eschewing the bitterness of traditional modifiers like Campari—it felt a bit thin compared to the main menu’s depth. It’s a “crowd-pleaser” cocktail: perfect for a hot afternoon in Singapore, but perhaps lacking the distinct character profile found in their more permanent signatures.

Final Thoughts
Atlas is a “bucket list” bar. For those who value serenity and the intimacy of a hidden speakeasy, the buzzing, tourist-heavy energy might be overwhelming. However, if you can appreciate the sheer scale of the operation and the technical skill required to maintain quality in such a cavernous space, it is an essential visit. It is one of the few places where the “posh” factor feels earned by the environment rather than just the price tag.
